But that work is to be handed over to somebody else who wanted to do it. Considering all the relevant factors one can deside in his own way. Premitted to ignore Gandhiji's opinion. One could do according to the best of one's thoughts. In case of difference of opinion Gandhiji's decision may be sought Not to do anything in haste. Gandhiji says that people are not careful in handling the relief funds. There was a tendency to mix up reconstruction work with relief work without tapping other sourees for reconstruction work, they just spend finds for reconstruction work even though they are meant for relief work. Relief work was also undertaken in many cases with political motives. Bulgeting becomes meaniugless when Presidents of the Committees are persuaded to give blank cheques. Some executive control over such things is absolutely necessary.

The organistation consists of all non-Harijans and not necessarily of Brahamins. Again each Board contains atleast one Harijan though personally I would prefer to exclude him as the work is purely of repentance by and purification of the non-Harijans. Harijans themselves may have their own boards asking for redress of grievances. Regarding prayers in the Ashram Though we have sprinkling of non Hindu prayers it is not possible to adopt a common prayer as the inmates are mostly Hindus.

You inform me of the total population of the district and the number of villages there: What about your being taken up in the Gandhi seva Sangh? (Reference to Ramdas,Nima and Children &to Kakasaheb.) The tradition to which you refer has to be observed by both the parties-the mill-owners as well as the labourers. Of late, if has been observed the labourers are breaking the tradition. Even then, it is made out as though the millowners are at fault. If we talk of maintaining the tradition, then both the parties should be equally serious and sincere about the matter.
